Aubrey Senevey-Rost is a substitute teacher and a student at Lincoln University, as well as a single mom to three boys: Tristan, 8, Weston, 2, and Quentin, 1. Trying to upkeep her style wasn’t a priority in her free moments, instead spending her time sewing or hanging out with friends.
“Life is hectic trying to work and go to school,” Aubrey said.
Aubrey showed Brandy Brockes, her stylist, one photo of a hairstyle she liked.
“I just kind of took it and ran with it,” Brockes said. “I made it a little more trendy… Just because she has three kids doesn’t mean she has to look like she has three kids!”
The result was an edgy, modern look that’s perfect for the season.
Hair – Brandy darkened the base and used Matrix So Red VR for a bayalaged violet-red look. Taking some length off the back, Brandy created an angled bob, leaving the front longer and texturizing the back with a straight razor for a more defined diagonal shape. Aquage Uplifting Foam before blow-drying the hair adds lift and hold, and some light teasing adds volume. Aquage Beyond Shine is used as a heat protectant before curling the look. Brandy finished the look with Matrix Texture Builder Messy Finish Spray to add randomness to the hairstyle.
Makeup – Starting with Mirabella Diminish Concealer under the eyes and over any blemishes, Brandy then brushed her entire face with Mirabella Skin Tint Creme, followed by Creme to Powder. She defined her cheekbones with bronzer and used Aveda’s Illumination eyeshadow as a face highlighter. Aveda’s Apricot Whisper blush added glow to her cheeks. On her lids, Brandy created a plum-toned smoky eye with Mirabella’s eyeshadows, making sure to keep the inner corner very bright. Mirabella’s Magic Marker eyeliner created a dramatic line, softened with a smoke-toned pencil. Aubrey’s brows were defined with a prune-colored eye pencil to bring in some of the violet-red, and Aveda Black Forest Mosscara. For the lip color, Brandy first used Aveda’s Lip Saver for moisturizing, then used shades from the Aveda Sublime Spirit collection, including a Purple Sage lip liner, Sandstone lipstick, and Desert Earth gloss.
Clothing – Cheri Morrow dressed Aubrey in a holiday outfit guaranteed to be the glittering center of attention this season. Aubrey wears a shimmering peek-a-boo back sweater with chiffon undertop by Simply Noelle and sleek vegan leather accented leggings. Completing the iridescent look is a radiant silver and rhinestone necklace and stacked bracelets adorned with more rhinestones.
