From HER

It’s that time again for our annual HER bridal issue, a great source for the latest trends in food, locations and gown. The News Tribune’s Mid Missouri Bridal Show on December 29 at Capital Plaza Hotel is another great opportunity to check out wedding vendor.

Most wedding stories begin with the engagement, a prelude of what’s to come. Jefferson City natives Jill Rackers and Austin Bernskoetter are the winners of our Best Proposal Contest. The couple won several prizes, including a session with photographer Lindsey Pantaleo and they share their special moment on page 37.

Anastasia Roark Foster and Chris Foster had a very romantic engagement too and we go inside the Los Angeles-based couples’ themed wedding/reception at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Roark Foster, a model/actress/television host and Jefferson City native, and her husband, a real estate developer from Osage Beach, planned such a fun weekend celebration that you’ll wish you had been there. In a way you  were…the details begin on page 12.

It’s all about location for the wedding and reception and our vendor round up includes three venues that have a lot to offer couples (see p. 33-34). We also feature four vintage inspired wedding gown creations from Victoria’s Bridal that are sure to fit any bride’s vision of herself on her special day (p. 24-26).

Right now, the fascinator, a headpiece that replaces the more traditional veil, is all the rage on both coasts. Even though it’s not as common here, Ann Metternich, owner of Victoria’s Bridal predicts it will be so we’ve featured one on our DIY on page 10.

For other hot trends in food and décor, we turned to in-demand bridal consultant Natalie Imhoff, (p.10). A guacamole bar, yum. What else is on the menu?

HER Table showcases the tasty cuisine of Madison’s Café, sure to please at rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions and holiday parties, and HER Career features Sarah Coe, co-owner and catering manager of A Catered Affair.

The holidays can be a difficult time to avoid temptation, but Brittany Plassmeyer and her mother, Lois Sandbothe, together lost more than 70 pounds on Jenny Craig.  Check out their “before” and “after” photos of their svelte selves on (p. 16), including a complimentary makeup and hair session with Erin Risse at Marshall and Company.

We also take a peek at holiday decorating trends at the Governor’s Mansion (p. 28), and we’re giving away each of our 6 of the Best Christmas tree ornaments on page 8 for your tree trimming party.
